It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father Walter on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Extendicare Maple View, in his 92nd year.
We know our dear mother Lynda has greeted him with open arms. He was the loving father of Stephanie, Leanne (Larry) and Greg, proud papa of Amy (Jeremy), Madison (Martin), Delaney (Luca), Tristan (Deanna) and great papa to Roman. Cherished brother of Ed (late Roma) and Jenny Westcott, and brother-in-law of Glenn Gardner (Elsie). He will be missed by his nieces, nephew and friends.
Our father was a dedicated family man who lived wholeheartedly for his kids and grandkids. His impact in the community was felt by many over the years. As a long-time high school math and phys-ed teacher at Sault Collegiate and White Pines, Dad had a passion for teaching, coaching and mentoring his students to be their very best. He was also an avid sports enthusiast, who coached many young athletes in minor hockey and baseball. His true passion was the game of golf, both as a player and a volunteer for over 30-plus years at the Soo Golf Club and Crimson Ridge Golf Club. Dad’s infectious warmth, kindness and humility was felt by all those who knew him.
Our thanks to Dr. Sarah White and all the wonderful care providers at Maple View who took great care of Dad during his residency there, with special thanks to Janet, Tammy and Matthew. We would also like to thank Amanda, Sherri and Ashley from Bayshore Home Health, who cared for Dad while he was still living at home.
To commemorate our father’s remarkable life and the memories we cherish, family and friends are welcome to join us in celebrating his life on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. at Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E., 705-759-2522). Memorial contributions made payable online or by cheque to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Klym family.
