It is with heavy hearts that we announced the peaceful passing of Debra Jean Lake (nee Hetherington) in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 10, 2025 at her home in Goulais River in her 70th year.
Debra spent 40 wonderful years with the love of her life, Mark, building a life full of laughter, love, and lasting memories. She will be deeply missed by her daughter Ashley (Scott), her son Jeff (Aantu) and her beloved grandchildren - Hannah, Matthew, Mason, Sienna, and Jayde, who brought her endless joy. Debra will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was deeply loved by her sisters Kim and Susan, whose bond with Debra was filled with laughter, support, and unconditional love. Debra had a gentle spirit and a heart full of warmth. She adored her golden retrievers, finding joy in their companionship, and loved nothing more than sitting by the water with a cross stitch in her hand. Her spirit was nurtured by her treasured birthday girls, her dear friends in Reaboro, and the deep-rooted friendships she held in Port Franks and Goulais River. Debra stayed in touch with many from her years at Georges Vanier Secondary School. Debra lived with kindness, creativity, and grace, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and beautiful memories.
A Celebration of Life to honor and remember Debra's beautiful life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations (payable by cheque or online) can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or Golden Rescue would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East 705-759-2522). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be made at www.arthurfuneralhome.com
