Age 87 - Peacefully, at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday October 17, 2017, after a courageous battle with Cancer. Loving wife to her late husband Brian for 62 years, cherished mother to Susan Desaulniers (Dwayne) of Boston MA. and Carolyn Langan (Jeff Huhta) Bolton ON and fun loving grandmother to Evan Fauchere of Nutley, NJ.
Born in Sault Ste. Marie in 1930. Daughter of Ethel (Marshall) and Joseph Delayer. Dear sister of Donald Delayer of Warkworth and sister-in-law to Margaret Hummell of Sarnia. Predeceased by her brother Douglas Delayer (Marion), sister Noreen Scofield (Jack), sisters-in-law Colleen Delayer, Veronica Roche (Richard), Marcella Palmer (Edward), brothers-in-law Mark Langan (Maxine) Robert Hummell, and Patrick Langan (Margaret).
Anita will be fondly remembered by many cousins, nieces and nephews for her lively sense of humor and booming laugh, which could always be heard above the crowd at family gatherings. Anita trained at the Plummer Memorial Hospital and worked as an RN at the Sarnia General Hospital until she returned to Sault Ste. Marie in 1970. Once back in the Sault, she dedicated her time to caring for her aging mother, raising her family and enjoying time with extended family on the waterfront at her favorite place; Pointe Aux Pins.
In later years, she was a popular companion to her grandson Evan, with whom she enjoyed many hours of fun playing games, watching the Simpsons and helping Evan hide Whoopi cushions on the seats of unsuspecting subjects. Anita was “one of a kind” and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The Langan family would like to thank Dr. Patterson and the staff at the Sault Area Hospital in 3C, for the outstanding care they gave our mother and their support to our family. Donations to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated. A small private memorial service will be scheduled in the near future. Arrangements entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St E, 705-759-2522).
