MacINTYRE, Cecil

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Cecil Daymond MacIntryre, born on April 14, 1933.    Cecil was a loving husband for 61 years of Eileen.  Loving father of Rod (Diane), Ed (Carla), late Jack, Darlene, and Russ (Barb).  Grandpa of Adam (Tanya), Samantha (Cole), Caitlin, Ashley, Cassidy, Cecil, Stefanie (Donnie), Kyle, Dylan (Jayden) and Ryan, his chum.  Grandpa loved them all so much and was so proud in all their accomplishments.  Great grandpa of Gray, Reese, Bryson and Brennen.  Son of the late Stanley and Hannah MacIntyre.  Brother of the late Stan (late Laura), late Norman, Gerald (Marie), Chester (Brenda), Gordie (Judy), Sandra (Ian), Cinda (Ken) and the late Jack. Son-in-law of the late Clarence and Ellen-Hill.  Brother-in-law of Wes (Evelyn), Wilbert (late Adele), late Eunice, Phylis (Reg), Marg (Gordie), Gordie and Gary.  Uncles to many nieces and nephews.  He will be missed by many good friends that he met along his journey of life.  Dad took his last breath in the early morning of March 14, 2016, just one month shy of his 83rd birthday.  As we said goodbye to the strongest man we knew, our dad, we remembered the good fight he bravely endured against the disease of dementia that had taken over his last 5 years of life.  Dad worked at Algoma Steel as an electrician for 17 years when he left to do what he dreamed of doing, becoming a beef farmer, that is how we remember our Dad, as the strong farmer that he was.  He moved from Prince Township to Echo Bay, settling in Bruce Mines for the rest of his life, on his farm of Polled Hereford Beef Cattle.  If you had the privilege of meeting him, you would have learnt more about bulls than you ever could imagine because he loved to talk to anyone about them….right Tim?  We always joked that farming would not be what we grew up doing for our living, but it definitely taught us hard work and what dedication was all about, looking after your neighbours and to treat everyone with respect.  Dad loved his work horses Pete & Roy and was a diehard Detroit Tiger fan, proudly wearing his ball cap for all to see.  He also loved hunting, ice fishing, watching hockey and golf.  Dad made a few trips to Alberta to visit his sons and their families, hunting and buying Herford cattle, always proud that they moved to the West! “Dad was always there for us and we couldn’t have asked for a more loving husband for our Mom, Dad for his children or Grandfather for our children.” A graveside service will take place on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 1 pm at Hillside Cemetery, Prince Township.  (Arrangement entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre 705-759-2522). Memorial contributions to the Algoma Manor or your choice would be appreciated.  Thank you to the staff at Algoma Manor (Palliative Care) in Thessalon for their excellent care given to Dad in his 5 years as a resident.  To the nurses and PSW staff who looked after Dad his last week, making sure he was comfortable, it was appreciated more than words can express.  No act of kindness went unnoticed.    Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
