We regret to announce the passing of Geraldine Ethel Marie MacLeod (née Rooney) at the Sault Area Hospital on the evening of Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the age of 84.
Born in Iroquois Falls in 1940, she married Roland Luke MacLeod in 1961 and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1962. She worked as an Operating Room nurse, in the Emergency department, the Plummer Memorial Hospital and the General Hospital. She was also a nursing instructor. An accomplished pianist, she recorded an album in the early 1960s. Active in the church, she played organ for St. Gregory’s, and volunteered driving people with disabilities to their medical appointments. An avid reader, she enjoyed watching figure skating, baseball, and travel.
She is reunited with her husband Rollie. She is survived by her four children: Rhonda MacLeod (Mike Matthews), Donna MacLeod (Rob Rohr), Chris MacLeod (Kim), and Steve MacLeod (Sheryl Smith). Grandma of Sara, Liam, Chloe, and Ella. Predeceased by her parents Charles and Ethel Rooney. Sister of Micky (Madelaine) and predeceased by Patricia, Mary Katherine (late Tony Wennikers), Joe (Ann nee Mahl) and Patrick. Daughter-in-law of the late Mado and Grace MacLeod. Sister-in-law of the late Chuck (Lorriane), late Dorn (Colleen), late Greg, and late Mado (Nancy). She will be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home, Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E. 705-759-2522) on Friday, May 2nd, 2025 between 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. Funeral service to follow in the Chapel at 7:00 pm with Rev. Marlene Henry-Smith officiating.
