We regret to announce the unexpected, yet somehow expected passing of our father, Joe.

Our father was kind, and gracious, and well beyond proud. These last few years, life was hard for him, and on May 3, 2025, we received that middle of the night knock on the door that no family wants to answer.

Left to mourn are his sons, Anthony (Aimee), and Joseph, and daughters, Stefanie, and Niki (Mike). Impossible to fill the void “Bumpa Joe” has left his 8 grandchildren and his 6 great grand babies.

Our dad was born in Italy to the late Antonio and late Luisa and immigrated to Canada in search of a better life. Much loved and respected brother of Frank (Phyllis), Angelo (Gina), and Mario (Sue). We find great peace in knowing our father is once again reunited with his parents, whom he loved and adored beyond measure.

A long time Algoma Steel employee, we are happy to hear the many stories his many co-workers have shared.

Joe will be remembered for his hardworking nature, his bigger than life personality, and his unmatched work ethic; an ethic he instilled in all four of his children. We will be pleasantly reminded of our dad with every round of golf, all Bruce Springsteen songs, and by the way we chuckle on the inside at the thought of seeing any wooden walking stick. We will forever remember our dad’s loud laugh, his uncanny and crazy jokes, and his ability to tell a story like no other. Our dad loved hard.

Our family wishes to thank the EMS professionals, as well as the SSMPS, especially Officer’s Carpinelli and Miller for their compassion and expertise. We recognize the emotional and physical demand these careers face daily in serving our community and are truly grateful for the care and respect shown to our father in his most vulnerable of times. We appreciate your services more than we can say.

To the people and staff of Salvation Army on Elgin Street, thank you for treating our dad like a human being. He often talked about how great everyone was, and how his recent volunteering really filled a void, and made him feel purposeful.

In lieu of flowers or donations, please do a kind deed and pay it forward. Treat others with kindness and hug your loved ones and tell them how much they are loved.

Our father was a great man, with a beautiful heart, and we wish to remember him as such.

Cremation has taken place.
