With heavy hearts we wish to announce the sudden passing of our precious Mum on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Jean was born on December 29, 1929, in Sault Ste. Marie to the late Percy and the late Mildred McAlpine. She is now reunited with her beloved husband Gene Gino Marcon who predeceased her in 2009, along with her siblings Doris, Audrey and Charlie.

Jean was the beloved Mother of Judy Schoeffman (David McMichael), Linda Ambeault (Robert), late Michael Colynuck, Cathy Colynuck, and Donna Armstrong (Rob). Proud Grandma of Elliot Schoeffman, Peter Schoeffman (Kate), Sara Tourigny (Alain), Emily Cinkol (Mehmet), Alexandra Ambeault, Mark Armstrong, Leah Mortley (Jared), and Brett Armstrong (Tineil). Great grandma of Piper and Clementine Schoeffman, Pike Schoeffman, Max and Sofia Tourigny, Arya and Russell Cinkol, Iris and Theo Mortley, and Jasper, Lincoln and Titus Armstrong.

Jean was a very humble person who genuinely and generously gave her children love, attention and advice. Each of us was her favourite. She was interested in what her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were doing and spoke proudly of them. Jean couldn’t keep a secret and if you told her one, you could be assured the rest of the family would soon be aware of it. She had a great sense of humour we all loved. She loved the pets we all had and especially the affectionate dog, Charlie, that she fostered for many years. Charlie kept mum active and socialized and her mind sharp. Charlie adored mum. Jean was also an artist of sorts - and she often gifted her paintings, in card form or wall size, and they were pretty good. She loved living her entire life in the Soo and having a camp on the Goulais River - a true Northerner.

In her later years, she loved the casino slots. Jean was most animated when at the casino and her stamina was unmatched. We will miss her terribly as she has always been the steady, comforting and most supportive Mother to us.

A private family service will take place, as mum didn’t like fanfare for herself and we will respect her wishes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be appreciated by the family.

Thank you, Mum, for your final gift. At 95, she was alert and living independently until the very end. She was a wonder!

Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.northwoodfuneral.com.

Rest in peace mum, we love you.
