June 29, 1943, Pihtipudas, Finland - March 21, 2025, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario

Peacefully in living faith, in his sleep at home at the age 81. Beloved husband of Mary (nee Michelson) for 55 years. Loving father of David (Kaisa Tonteri) and grandfather of Noel and Greeta, all of Finland. Dear brother of Irene Rich (Robert), Aulis, Alan (Diana), Anne Wood (Gary), Alfret (Lorraine), and Aila Taylor (Bill). Brother-in-law of George Michelson (Karen) and Eunice Desarmia (late Bruce). He was predeceased by his parents Eero and Hilja, his brothers Asko, and Aarre, his sister Anja, his granddaughter Isabel and his in-laws Kenneth and Alice Michelson (nee McComb). Aimo is survived by his many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends throughout Canada, the United States and Finland.

Aimo was a machinist and worked at Great Lakes Machine Shop, China Steel and in Brampton at Kord Products.

He was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church. He was an avid Storyteller and loved to visit and talk about his many travels to Finland and throughout the United States. He loved to play horseshoes and to teach others signs in sign language and words of the Finnish Language. He will be sorely missed by his wife, son David, relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to O’Sullivan Funeral Home on Sunday, March 30, 2025, from 2:30-4:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church (742 Third Line E). A graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
