With much sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, and Nonno, Ron.
Ron celebrated his 43rd wedding anniversary with the love of his life Maria (Pino), on May 22nd surrounded by his loving and close-knit family. He was the proud father of Jeffrey (Katie) and Karli (David), and even prouder Nonno of Bentley, Keira, Jett, and Cruz. He is now reunited with parents, Reno and Enes (Joe), his father-in-law Geniale Pino, and his favourite companion, Snickers. He was loved like no other by his mother-in-law Carmela Pino and is deeply missed by his sister Theresa Wood-Salomon (late Philip), brother-in-law Al Pino (Ruth), and sister-in-law Sandra Doherty (Mike). He is also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
He was a very proud and loyal employee of Canadian Tire for over 40 years. His hardworking and kind demeanor made a lasting impression on those who worked with him throughout his career, and to Ron they were his family away from home. He loved to help others and would often stay after his shift to ensure everything was running smoothly.
Ron cared deeply for everything and everyone in his life, taking time to stop and chat, engaging in life updates, and always slipping in a witty joke. Ron made sure his family was well taken care of, including their vehicles which were always spotless! He decorated the home for Christmas, ensured flower beds were ready for spring, kept the driveway clear of snow by 5am, and closed the pool on the coldest fall days.
In his final days, Ron still spoke of his favourite memories camping at Young State Park, not once mentioning his hard work packing and unpacking for the trips. These experiences instilled the love of camping in his children and grandchildren that they continue today.
Ron showed us what it means to be caring, dependable, and proud—not in a loud way, but in the way he showed up whenever his family and his friends needed him.
He leaves behind a space that no one else can fill, but a legacy that will last forever in his friendships, his habits, his stories, and in each of us who were lucky enough to have known him.
Ron was fortunate to have had the most outstanding care from countless health professionals, medical staff, and technicians. Our sincerest gratitude to Dr. Voutsadakis, Dr. Spadafora, Dr. Pearce, Dr. Jonusaitis, Dr. Tozer, Dr. Bowen, and our guardian angel Dr. Apostle. We would also like to thank the most amazing nurses from Dr. V.’s office, Kate, Sara, and Katherine for the compassion and care given to Ron. To the most wonderful, caring professionals at the Sault Area Hospital: those in the Cancer Clinic who became like family to Ron and brought him comfort, care, and laughter; the Emergency Department staff for their exceptional care; and those on 3A for their care and compassion. To Leah Simon, for her constant encouragement and care. Finally, to the staff of ARCH, there are no words to express our gratitude for the care and compassion that helped Ron to rest in peace.
