MCCARREL, Bessie Agness

Bessie Agness McCarrel (Dukes) passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2003 in Genoa City, Wisconsin at the age of 85. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond (Ray) McCarrel, whom she married on January 14, 1936. She was born August 17, 1917 in Sylvan Valley (Echo Bay), Ontario, Canada, a daughter of Myrtle Blanche (Osborne) and William Henry Dukes. She is survived by one brother, Ernest Dukes (Gladys) of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Sister of the late John and Reba Dukes, late Henry Dukes (Lila). Bessie came with her family to the United States on August 2, 1955, first to Pontiac, Michigan then in the fall of 1957 to Marion, Indiana where she resided until March 1, 2002 when she moved to Genoa City, Wisconsin to live with her daughter and son-in-law Betty and Delbert Wampner. She was a homemaker and beautician and as a member of the Hairdresser's Association, operated her shop, Magic Mirror for many years in Marion, Indiana. Her proudest accomplishment was her family for whom she made many sacrifices. Her family includes two daughters, Betty V. Wampner (Delbert), Barbara J. Paille (Bill) and two sons, William J (Judith) and Robert R. (Debra); grandchildren Daniel J. McCarrell (Abigail), Angela S. McCarrel, Christopher Wampner (Julie), Cindy Wampner, Delbert Wampner Jr., Corinna Carroll (William), James McCarrel, Heather R Fuller (Michael), Dale Osborn II and great grandchildren Jason, Jennifer, Windsor, Serena, Cassandra, Corey, Savannah, Bryon, Brandon, Robbie, Billy, Elizabeth, Monica, Kyle, Seth, Andrew, Matthew, Kyla, Carmen and Kenzie, many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. Services were held at the Steinke Funeral Home in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin on Saturday, March 1, 2003 at 2:30 pm. Pastor Steve Ross of Berean Grace Church, Genoa City officiated. A memorial service will be held in late June at the Barton & Kiteley Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (759-2114), from where she will be laid to eternal rest in Sylvan Valley Cemetery, Echo Bay, Ontario. The family has requested memorial contributions to the Diabetes Association, Alzheimer's Society, Berean Grace Church, N 666 Hwy B, Genoa City, Wisconsin 53128 or to a Library of your choice.
