Passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at the age of 75. Beloved husband to Catherine (Frech). Loved father of Erin (Michael McDonough), Melanie (Matt Romani) and Kate (Josh Teresinski). Grumpa to Cian, Etta, Ryder, Parker, Cole, Evelyn and Owen. Predeceased by his parents Bruce and Kay McGregor. Special brother of Anna Reburn (Jim). He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, close friends, former colleagues of Great Lakes Power and his neighbours with whom he crossed paths on the trails and lake.
Doug found his greatest joy on the shores of Lake Superior, where he made his home and cherished the ever-changing beauty of the water. His love for nature and deep connection to the lake shaped his life and the memories he shared with those he loved. Doug’s adventurous spirit will be remembered by his family and friends.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road, 705-945-7758).
In remembrance of Doug, the family encourages you to spend time in nature, where he found peace and joy or consider a donation to the Algoma District Cancer Program.
His legacy lives on in the hearts of those who continue to share his trails, and the waves, and winds of Lake Superior with him.
