(April 8, 1939 – October 16, 2016) - Peacefully, with family by his side at Golden Birches Terrace, Blind River on Sunday October 16, 2016. Ivan Meawasige, in his 78th year, beloved husband of Lorraine for 55 years. Loving father of Lawrence ( Robin ) Meawasige, Earl Meawasige, Sheila ( Stephen ) Bender and Stuart ( Liz ) Meawasige and lovingly remembered by Maurina Meawasige. Special Grandfather to 11 grandchidlren and 3 Great Granddaughters. Predeceased by his parents Chief William and Agnes Meawasige. Dear brother of Caroline ( Jack ) Meawasige and predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Ivan loved life and was a very humble man, outgoing, with many good friends. He was a proud member of the Serpent River First Nation Community. Friends may call at the Serpent River First Community Hall from Tuesday October 18, 2016 at 6pm until time of service at Our Lady of the Highway, Cutler on Thursday October 20, 2016 at 11am. Interment in the Serpent River First Nations Cemetery. Donations to Golden Birches Terrace gratefully accepted.
