MIHELL, Betty

In loving memory of Betty Mihell who passed away at the age of 86 at Mapleview Nursing Home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016.  Beloved wife of the late Bob Mihell.  Loving mother of Vicki Pierman (John) and the late Bobby Mihell (Sandy).  Dear grandmother of Conor Mihell (Kim), Caitlin Mihell, Cydney Mihell, Cameron Mihell, JR Pierman, and Sheryl Pierman.  Adored great grandmother of Abbey Pierman and John William Pierman.  Cherished sister of Marg Piper (late Winston) and Shirley Zoerner (late Roy). Betty’s love for life, her positive attitude and belief in the good in people made her irresistible to be around and chat with.  Betty spent many of her early years of marriage working at A&P in Sault Ste. Marie.  However, her love for her family and grandchildren eventually won over as she became a full-time grandma and helped raise a wonderful family who was at her side day-and-night through the past several weeks.  Betty’s family would like to thank all of the amazing staff at Maple View Nursing Home who made her time there comfortable and peaceful, including Sandy, who was an angel during her final days.  Huge appreciation also goes out to the staff at Great Northern Retirement Home where Betty lived for most of the past year and where she received wonderful support and care and also built strong friendships as the “leader” of the late night cookie and coffee brigade.  Her unrelenting generosity and willingness to do anything at anytime for her family and friends was beyond compare.  Betty’s love for animals, especially dogs, was also without limit.  She provided loving homes throughout the years for a host of four-legged canine pets that loved her as much as she loved them.  Betty’s vitality, willingness to always put others before herself, and an unrelenting love for her family will be missed.  Friends and family are invited to attend an informal come-and-go lunch and celebration of Betty’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 12 to 3pm.  Memorial contributions to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society are appreciated and can be made through Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.  Expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.arthurfuneralhome.com.
