MUIRHEAD, Delbert James Howard Sr.

(April 3, 1937 – April 16, 2017)
Peacefully at Maple View Extendicare, Del was set free from his battle with Alzheimer’s disease.  He was surrounded by love as he joined his beloved wife, Marilyn (predeceased July 2015).  Left to mourn the loss of a devoted, loving father are his children, Janeen MacWilliam (Jody Showell and his sons Jake and Kyler), Delbert Jr. (Bonnie Hackney and her daughter Paige), Gordon (Candy Philp and her children Alisha, Rebecca and Michael) and Terri Lee.  Cherishing his legacy and the beautiful memories he left behind are his beloved grandchildren, Paige and Gavin MacWilliam, Ryan Powley Muirhead and Olivia Muirhead.  Del was predeceased by his parents Howard and Evelyn Muirhead and his mother-in-law, Marjorie Sharpe (Elliott Running).  Left with precious memories are his sisters, Audrey Edison, Enid Muirhead, Carol Gaines (late Ron) and Jeanie Farish and his brothers John and Lee.  Predeceased by 7 brothers and 1 sister.  Del was a master auto mechanic at Superior Dodge Chrysler and excellent woodworker and many of his unique, beautiful creations are left behind for his children to cherish.  His happiest times were spent with friends and family at the cottage at Haviland Bay.  It brings our family great comfort to know he has been reunited with our beautiful mother and that he can, once again, be “the walker” now that he has been set free.  Friends are invited to visit at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 4 to 6 pm. Funeral service in the chapel at 6:30 pm.  Mrs. Helen Smith officiating.  Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society or ARCH would be appreciated by the family.
