It is with sadness that the family of Julia Natkanski announce her passing on Saturday, January 7, 2017 in her 87th year. Predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Tadeusz “Ted”. Beloved and cherished mother of Helena Oswald (Klaas). Adored babcia (grandmother) to Madeleine. Dear sister of Theo Ciszewski (Jean), Jessica Wojtowicz (John), Josie Zeilinski (Jerry) and the late Peter. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Julie and her husband immigrated to Red Lake, Ontario in 1949, where they lived for twelve years. She was an exceptional cook and a professional seamstress. She lived for twenty-six years in Wawa where she operated the Eagle’s Nest for Algoma Steel executives and guests, catering weddings, sewing wedding and formal dresses, and was active in the Polish Club. After Ted retired from mining in 1988, they moved to Sault Ste. Marie where she was very active at St. Andrew Bobola Polish Catholic Church and the Polish Hall. In Wawa and locally, she enjoyed making crafts and participating in craft shows. Friends and family are invited to visit at Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Road 705-945-7758) on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12 at Holy Family Parish with Father Boguslaw Jaroszek officiating. A spring interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial donations to Holy Family Parish would be appreciated by the family.
