OJA, Margaret (nee Viklund) passed away peacefully at the Ontario Finnish Resthome - Mauno Kaihla Koti on Monday, March 10, 2025 at the age of 84.

Marg will be missed by her loving husband of 15 years Bob Poulton.

She is predeceased by her first husband Ari Oja (1996). Loving mother of Andy Oja (Kathy), Brian Oja (Franca) and Annalee Carberry (Brad). Proud Mummu of Jacob, Jocelyn, Laina, Cooper, Mavis and Nathan. Fondly remembered by her special ladies Hannele Park and Marilyn Uhlman as well as Bob’s sons Kevin and the late Ken Poulton. Predeceased by her siblings Helli, Paavo and Mirja. Loving sister, sister-in-law and aunt of Viklund, Oja and Poulton families.

Born in Jurva, Finland in 1941, she immigrated to Canada in 1952 with her mother Senja (d. 1973) and her beloved sister Mirja (d. 2023). Settling in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Marg enjoyed a wonderful life with family, friends and the Finnish community.

Marg was known for her crafts of all kinds. She was an excellent knitter, seamstress and a superb quilter.

In keeping with her wishes a graveside service will be held in the spring at the Richard’s Landing Cemetery, St. Joseph Island.

Memorial contributions payable (by cheque or online) to the Ontario Finnish Resthome Association or to Juvenile Diabetes (TD1) would be appreciated by the family.
