(March 3, 1931 – June 28, 2016) – Surrounded by her loving family, Bertha passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the age of 85. Bertha was the dedicated and much loved wife of Jim for over 66 years. She was an amazing and dedicated mother, loved dearly by her 8 children; Jimmy Jr. (Sharon), Randall (late Colette), the late Roseanna MacGillivary (Ray), Teddy (Rae), Teresa Belanger, Bev Fraser (Alan), Mike (Susan) and Billy (Dot). She was blessed with 17 grandchildren who adored her; the late Shannon, Jeremy, Brian (Jenn), Danielle (Luc), Randall Jr., Mark (Amber), Tammy Rutledge, Michelle Hayes (Logan), Ted Jr. (Heather), the late Kylie Rose, Fern Belanger, Nicole Belanger, Melissa Slade (Steve), Carly Fraser (Farin), Brock (Yohana), Ashley Brown (Corey) and Jakob. Bertha was the proud great grandmother of 13. She was the beloved sister of Beatrice Lacelle (John), the late George, John (late Barbara), Shirley Brunet (Leo), Albert (Gladys), and the late Gary. Special niece of the late Edith Dixon. Sister-in-law of Florence Asselin (late Rolland), late Harriet Deschene (late Freddie), Billie Bois (Robert), late Harry (Nora), Winston (Paulette), late Charlie, late Peter (Sandy),and the late Pat (Elaine). Bertha dedicated her life to her family and friends and was a support network to many. She spent many years working with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and took a lead in social activities in the senior complex where she and Jim lived. Family and friends are invited to attend Bertha’s Celebration of Life at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass to be celebrated from Our Lady of Good Counsel Church on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 10 am. Rev. Paul Conway officiating. Cremation to follow with interment at Hillside Cemetery, Prince Township. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
