1929-2025
Peacefully passed away at Extendicare Maple View on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at the age of 96. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Mary (nee Cameron). Cherished father of Joanne Rivers (Wolfgang), David (Noelie) and Cal Bond (Phyllis). Proud grandfather of James Rivers (Danielle), Chris Peer (Roberta) and Nick Bond (Sarah) and great grandfather of Austin Rivers, Tae Lyn Steele, Addie and Charlie Bond. Predeceased by his parents Viola and Reginald Peer. Brother of the late Edith Fisher (late John), Harold Peer (Joyce), late Howard Peer (late Thelma), Dorothy Bianchi (Don)(late Tony) and the late Reginald Peer. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, each holding a special place in his heart.
A man of simple joys and enduring spirit, Chuck lived a life marked by laughter, kindness, and a twinkle in his eye that never dimmed. He was never one to sit still—unless it was to share a joke or beat you at a game of horseshoes. Whether bowling strikes at the local lanes, sliding stones in a curling match, or strolling through town with purpose in his step, Chuck found joy in movement and in the company of others.
For many years, he could be seen walking his familiar routes, always with a friendly wave. When fate eventually required a wheelchair, he met the challenge with dignity and resilience, his wit undiminished and his smile as bright as ever.
Summers were best spent at Clear Lake Campground, where he built cherished memories with family and friends under the open sky. Around the campfire, his laughter rang out—always quick with a joke, always making others feel welcome.
Even as Alzheimer’s gradually stole away pieces of the past, it never touched the core of who he was. His warmth, his sharp humour, and that unmistakable sparkle in his eyes remained to the very end.
We can not begin to express how grateful we are for the care and compassion Chuck received at Maple View Nursing Home, Harmony Bay. He loved you all - Mathew, Tammy, Jasmine, Janet, Amalu, just to name a few. You embraced him and made him feel like the nursing home was his home, and for that we thank you.
To honour Chuck’s wishes, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Northwood Funeral Home Cremation and Reception Centre (942 Great Northern Rd, 705-945-7758). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be offered at www.northwoodfuneral.com.
If there was a limit to smiles, he ran out ♥
