A beloved figure of Goulais River sadly left our world on April 1, 2025, at the age of 49, after a life richly lived in service and kindness, he was known for his commitment to community.
Devoted husband of Ginette Phillips for 15 years. Father of Jennifer Ann Phillips and stepfather to the late Mary Lynn Bjornaa.
Predeceased by his grandparents Clifford (Edna) Phillips and Bob (Reava) Young. Son of Linda Phillips and Nial Phillips. Older brother to his best friend Joe (Nicole) and younger brother Davey. Uncle to Tyler, Asia, Cally, Olivia and great uncle to Luke and Baily.
James and Ginette routinely ran an off-grid landscape, providing fresh vegetables, livestock and eggs, dedicated in providing for the locals. James attended community events, he dedicated volunteer hours to the local fire department and served on local boards and was employed for years at the local restaurant (The Zone), he was devoted to sharing his culinary expertise.
A gathering for family, friends and community, members will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 1:00-4:00 at The Zone. A burial will tale place at the Goulais River Cemetery, early to mid spring.
