Passed away at the Sault Area Hospital on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at the age of 88.
Son of the late Frank and Josephine Plastino. Loving husband of the late Marlene Plastino. Cherished father of Sally Cronce (Dan), Edward Plastino (Laura) and Penny Sprague (Kevin). Adored grandfather of Sarah Shober (Jason), Mary Cronce (Dennis), Paul Plastino, Lorena Vehling (Tim), Selina Sprague and Nicholas Sprague. Great grandfather of William, Dylan, Spencer, MacKenzie, Maddy, Micah, Marlee, Theo and Marta. Oldest brother of Carmen (Kathy), Edward (Jackie), Joseph (Audrey) and he is predeceased by his brother John (late Sherry). Brother in law of the late Joy Tecter (late Allan), Sharon Simko (Andy), late June Bergamin (Ron) and Verna Scott (late Beverly). Son in law of the late Verna and Dan Gilbraith. Predeceased by his daughter in law Layla Plastino and brother in law / fishing buddy Norman "Red" McKinnon. Gino will be missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Gino enjoyed spending much of his time out at camp in Batchawana Bay. He enjoyed many activities including fishing, baseball, hockey and bowling. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren; attending their sporting events, activities, graduations and weddings. Gino spent the last several years living at the Ontario Finnish Resthome where he enjoyed the activities, staff and other residents.
Family and friends are welcome to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522) on Wednesday Oct. 30 from 3-5 p.m. Service to follow at 5 p.m.
