September 22, 1958 – December 7, 2024. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Leonard Proulx on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the age of 66.
Born on September 22, 1958, Joe was the youngest child of the late Douglas and Doreen Proulx (nee Primeau). Joe was the beloved brother of Carol Anderson (Ron), the late Richard, Patrick (Debbie), Michael, and Janet Guerin (Paul). He shared a special bond with his siblings and their families, always remembered for his warmth and laughter. Joe’s pride and joy was his only son, Dillon ‘affectionately known as Bud’ Proulx (Kat). He was a devoted and loving father who cherished every moment with his son. Joe will also continue to watch over his great love, Denise, whose companionship brought him immeasurable happiness. Joe held a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews: Doug, Aimee, Sarah, Selena, Zachary, Jordan, Katie, and Samantha. His birthday calls and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all.
A dedicated union member, Joe was the current president and a long-standing member of LiUNA Labourers Union Local 1036 for over 36 years. His leadership, honesty, and friendship made a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Joe’s other great loves were the Montreal Canadiens and the Rolling Stones. He was a passionate fan who brought his love for the game and music into every conversation. Known for his integrity, humour, and big heart, Joe was a lifelong friend who always stood by those he cared for.
We will miss his unexpected “pop-ins,” his contagious laughter, and the countless memories he created with those around him. Joe’s presence will be forever missed but fondly remembered.
In keeping with Joe’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no formal funeral service or fanfare. To honour his memory, we ask that you raise a glass and listen to a Rolling Stones song in celebration of a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E., 705-759-2522).
