Passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 5, 2025, in her 73rd year.
She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Tim Sundstrom and was a wonderful mother to her children Ryan (Rosalynn) and Miranda. Cherished grandmother of William, Lillian, Nevada and Nash. Dear sister of Nancy Bertoni (Lui) and Garry Podolski (Leanna). Predeceased by her parents Nellie and Velma Podolski.
Lynne was a proud Sault Ste. Marie resident and lived a wonderful and active life here. She was raised in a hockey family and, as a parent, always expressed so much joy in participating in adventures that came with her children’s athletic pursuits. She was a kind and curious soul terrific conversationalist who loved to spend time with friends both new and old. She had a successful career with Great Lakes Power and Algoma Power, starting in customer service before becoming the health, safety & environmental advisor for Algoma Power, Inc.
Lynne realized her dream of living on the water at Gros Cap but also travelled extensively to many countries, including Greece, England, Italy and Ireland, with Tim and several close friends.
Lynne was never afraid to take on new hobbies such as stained-glass work and gardening. She was always there to pitch in to help a charitable cause with the United Way particularly dear to her heart. She was a fitness instructor, an avid reader and loved her time spent exploring and hiking around her property.
She had a long-standing appreciation of dogs and owned many over the years. She and Tim had the incredible ability to connect with rescues and assist them in conquering their distrust of humans. It’s little surprise one of those great companions – Skye – was by her side at the end.
The family is forever grateful for the care and support provided by Dr. Nicki Apostle and the Palliative Care team at Sault Area Hospital. Thank you, Kate, and all the wonderful, caring oncology nurses.
A celebration of life will be held later this summer. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street East, 705-759-2522). Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) can be made to the Sault Area Hospital - Cancer Care Clinic or the local Humane Society would be appreciated. Better still, adopt a pet.
