RAINS, Joyce (nee Lake)

1939-2017 - It is with great sadness that the family announces her peaceful passing at Sault Area Hospital (SAH), on Saturday, November 4th 2017, at the age of 78.  Predeceased by her husband Roland in 1993.  She leaves to mourn her children Roland (Mariette), Raymond (Karen), Alan, Lauri Ann (Jimmy) Aguanno, daughter-in-law Lorie, foster-son Randy (Judy) Burch; her grandchildren Jean-Paul, Marcel (Victoria Kotab) , Eric (Ashley), EmaLee (Nathan Arnold), Owen, and Matthew (Chantal Trahan), Ashley (Joe) Hotchkiss, and Spencer Stephenson (Jordan Sansregret); and 9 great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind her sister Audrey (late Roy) Greenwood, late Alma (Vince) Turco, brothers Richard (Sandra) Lake, Maurice Lake and the late Edwin Lake, and sisters-in-law Cécile (Robert) Bouillon, Darlene (late Raymond) Rains, and the late Susan (late Alfred) Foster.  Joyce will be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews, for whom "Auntie Joyce" was special.  Joyce worked at Prouse Motors for many years, where she enjoyed the camaraderie of many good friends, also Sophie from Timmins, and Lorraine from the apartment building.  The family would like to thank Dr. DiFabio, Dr. Lee, and the ICU staff at SAH for their compassionate and understanding care. Cremation has taken place and her life will be celebrated at a small private family gathering at a later date.  Her ashes will be interred at the Laird Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Sault Area Hospital, or a charity of your choice.  Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East, 705-759-2522).
