SACHRO, William Henry

With deepest respect, fondest memories, and broken hearts, our family announces the passing of William “Willy” Sachro (March 28, 1929­­-August 30, 2016), husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and so much more that cannot be expressed in words. Friend and husband to Sophie (Sorokopud). Son of the late Fred and Henrietta. One of ten siblings, loving brother to the late Fred, late Lillian Montgomery (late Alfred), late Evelyn Lavoie (late Phil), late Dorothy Sachro, late Harold Sachro (Edith), John Sachro, late Louis Sachro, Helen Sachro, and Gilbert Sachro (Nancy). The most amazing Dad to his children Glen “Sac” Sachro (Barb), Susan “Susie” Partridge (Neil), late Greg Sachro, Steven Sachro (Alynn), and Diane Ritchie (Brian). A grandfather who taught his grandchildren to swim, how to survive in the bush, and how to fold toilet paper so you got the most use. He will be wholeheartedly missed by his grandchildren Sheena (Kyle), Shawna, Mitchel, Travis, Sydney, and Jarrod. Son-in-law to the late Nicholas and Yadowkia Sorokopud. Brother-in-law to the late Melo Sorokopud (Mary), late Adolf Sorokopud, Nina Zanatta (George), late Stan Sorokopud (Jeannette), Rita Markcoff (late Herb), Jenny Sommes (Wayne), and Billy Sorokopud. And uncle to many nieces and nephews. Known for stretching a meal and inventing “delicious” concoctions like cut-up hotdogs in soup, to only find years later the recipe on soup cans. A man who could hunt and fish, build and fix anything, he was “just awesome”. Often at camp, Dad was found sitting on the porch at the log cabin that he built by hand before the days of chainsaws, looking at nature. He saw everything and never missed anything. His last day was spent at camp feeding the ducks who had waddled up to the porch impatiently waiting for their lunch. Our Dad will be forever loved beyond believe and missed. Our family would like to thank the Sault Ste. Marie Paramedics, Firefighters, the Sault Area Hospital Emergency Room Nurses and Doctors for their compassionate care during a very difficult time. For a man often called “Nature Boy”, donations may be made in his honour to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society, and would be greatly appreciated by our family.
