It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our father.

Predeceased by his wife of 70 years Nina (Fortunata). Loving father of Anna DeGregorio (Marino), Ercole Serrao (Dawn), Caterina Serrao-Labelle (Paul), Gasparo Serrao (Kerry) and devoted and forever cherished daughter Raffela Serrao (Mario).

Caregivers are blessings sent from God and Raffela was our dad’s guardian angel. She was the one who made our dads life so much easier especially over the last few difficult years. Devoted caregiver, a pillar of strength, selfless sibling who went above and beyond to support our Dad. Her greatest strength lies in her ability to put our dads needs before her own and her unwavering care, dedication and compassion made a real difference in his life and for this beautiful gift we are forever grateful for her kindness, support and source of strength for our father and her siblings.

Son of the late Gasparo Serrao and late Anna Guercio. Brother of the late Gasparo (Luigina), late Raffeale Serrao (Emilia), late Fortunata Gallo (late Santo) and Vincenzo Serrao of Nocera Italy.

Proud Nanu to Tina Montgomery, Frank DeGregorio, Eric Serrao Jr, Kristina Serrao, Ethan and Bailey Serrao.

Great grandfathers bring a little wisdom, happiness, warmth and love to every life they touch. Grayson and Beckham Montgomery and Paisley Serrao made our dads heart full and his days brighter. With every visit he had a smile that would light up the room. From Boo Boo kisses to their forehead or gentle taps to the head they knew he loved them dearly. “LOVE is the the greatest gift one generation can leave another.”

He will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends near and far.

One of the greatest joys of heaven will be our everlasting reunion with those we love. Our father was greeted at Heavens gates with open arms by our beautiful mother and granddaughter Mya Emilia Rosa Serrao-Labelle.

A very special thank you to the staff at SAH 300-B for the amazing care for our dad. Dr. Jenkins, Dr. Law, Dr. Schamp, Dr. Booth, Dr. Buehner for keeping dad and our family feeling comfortable during this journey. Community Paramedicine Program (Brett and Jeff) for being there to answer any questions and for the kindness you showed towards our dad. Thank you Home Care PSW's for providing assistance in keeping our dad comfortably at home. Special thanks to Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) and the compassionate staff for all their incredible care, help, for treating our dad with dignity and for making the Serrao's feel at home at all hours of the day or night. ARCH is a truly beautiful place filled with warmth and comfort. Each day we were graciously greeted by the staff or volunteers whether it was a hug, food or delicious baked treats it is an experience that we will forever hold close to our hearts.
