It is with great sorrow that the family announces the peaceful passing of Chuck on Friday, May 23, 2025 at the age of 85.
Chuck is the beloved husband of Patricia (Pat). They enjoyed 63 years of married life together. He is the proud father of Larry (Ann-Marie), Pam Lortie (Reggie) and Bob (Michelle) and devoted grandfather of Cody, Matthew, Samara, Parker and Spencer.
Chuck will be missed by his sisters Darlene (Russell) Gamble and Lynn (Don) Baby.
Chuck was born in Matachewan on March 14, 1940 to Charles Sr. and Helen (nee Leclair). His love of nature began early; he spent endless hours exploring the bush as a child and later was happiest at the camp on Harold Lake, fishing the Norh Channel and hunting behind Bline River and later on Manitoulin Island. Chuck began mining in his teens when his family moved to Spanish at the start of the Elliot Lake Boom. He retired when Stanleigh Mine closed in 1996. He worked many years, through numerous injuries, but was able to enjoy his retirement visiting his grandchildren, hunting, fishing, playing music, walking his dog and spending time with his wife.
Chuck was a family man. Family always came first. He was a man of integrity and instilled those values in his children through his quiet actions. He will be missed by all of his children’s friends who became his extended family.
Everyone will remember Chuck for his musical talent. He loved his guitar and played in bands in his younger days and spent many hours playing at Lee Valley. He was always humming or singing.
Chuck battled with Alzheimer Disease for the past decade and the family acknowledges and thanks his many caregivers over the years, especially Marina McVety who made it possible for him to stay at home for as long as possible. Thank you to the staff at the Espanola Nursing Home. We are truly blessed that you were able to look beyond the disease and treat Chuck with the care and compassion that he so deserved. You made this journey easier for the family.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Walford on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Calvery Cemetery, Spanish. Everyone is invited to join the family for lunch at the Spanish Four Seasons Waterfront Complex, 40 Garner Road, Spanish. Arrangements entrusted to Bourcier Funeral Home.
