(March 17, 1926-May 12, 2016) - Quietly at home in his 91st year George Skoog of Thessalon. Son of the late Hilma and Herman Skoog originally from Finland. Brother of Dagney Desjardins (late Joe) and the late Violet Carson. Will be sadly missed by Shawn (Liz), Tim, Stephen (Laura), Christy (Ron Piche), and Judy (Al Piche). Also will be greatly missed by his great nieces and nephew Jennifer, Jodi (Drew), A.J. (Tierra) and Hallie (Ben). Also survived by one great great niece Sophia. Our family and community lost a good man. George is off to that big fishing hole in the sky. George was a gentle, funny outdoorsman who led a simple life, yet taught us one of the most important lessons of all – to be kind to people. He was most famous for his hand carved fishing handles and anyone who received one might consider themselves lucky. We will forever remember him for his famous “is that you?” phone calls when we answered. He made us laugh often. As per George’s wishes there will be no service. A private service surrounded by his family has taken place on Friday, May 13, 2016. Donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Fund in memory of George. Funeral services entrusted to Beggs Funeral Home.
