Peacefully at the F. J. Davey Home on Wednesday, September 17, 2024, Lorna Anne Slock, daughter of the late Neil and the late Geraldine (nee Strum) MacLeod passed away at the age of 85. Predeceased by her husband Fred in 1996. Lorna was born in Thessalon Ontario. She was raised on the family farm at Leeburn Ontario. Left to mourn are her close friends, the MacLeod and the Strum families.
At the age of 17, she embarked on her working career and was rarely without a job. In 2011, she hung up her working hat and, as it was always her wish to return to the north, she left Guelph, where she had lived for many years, and moved to Elliot Lake. Lorna will always be remembered for her quick wit and even when she was talking about something serious, people waited for the punchline. A talented writer, she had two published stories and was working on a novel at the time of her death.
Graveside service will take place at the Sands Cemetery on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522). Memorial donations (payable by cheque or online) to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the family.
A special thank you to the F.J. Davey Home, Driftwood One staff, for the exemplary care given to Lorna.
