Passed away with family by his side on Tuesday August 16, 2016 at the Chatham-Kent Hospice, age 91. Beloved husband of 60 years to Klementine "Tina" (nee Jurkus). Together they moved to Canada in 1959 and spent most of their lives in Sault St. Marie. Kazimir worked for Algoma Steel until his retirement. In 2003, Kazimir and Tina moved to Ridgetown to be closer to children and grandchildren.
Loving father of Irene Moore (Bill) of Morpeth, Henry "Hank" Slyzys (Janice) of Simcoe, David Slyzys (Theresa) of Burlington, the late Audrey Bieber (Doug) of Palmyra, James Slyzys (Connie) of Sault St. Marie, and Peter Slyzys of Woodstock. Papa of Lauren Wieringa (Jeff), Alycia Boschman (Matt), Nate Moore, Tena Bieber, Cassandra Bieber, Beverley Bieber, Matthew Slyzys, Samuel Slyzys, and Patrick Fluke (Amanda). Great-Grandfather of Clara Wieringa, Camille Wieringa, Patrick Fluke and James Fluke. Born in Lithuania on April 19, 1925 to parents the late Kazimir Slyzys and the late Petronella. Predeceased also by his siblings Antanas, Maryte, Liuda, Salome and Prane.
Memorial visitation will be held at the McKinlay Funeral Home, 76 Main St. E., Ridgetown on Friday August 19, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm. Parish Prayers will be shared at 8pm. The Funeral Mass will be Celebrated by Fr. Martin Johnston on Saturday August 20, 2016 at 11am in the St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 26 George St., Ridgetown. A private family burial will be held in the Gosnell Cemetery, Highgate. Donations in memory of Kazimir may be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice.
