August 06, 1934 - March 23, 2025. It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the peaceful passing of Ralph on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at his home at Great Northern Retirement in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
He was born near Ratcliffe, Saskatchewan, lived and raised his family in Moose Jaw, SK. Retiring to the west coast of British Columbia, enjoying many great homes in the lower mainland and spent his last few years in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He is predeceased by his parents Reidar & Signa Steiro, his wife Rosina (nee Kraft) of 53 years and his second wife Ella (nee Heeney) of 10 years. He is survived by his son Tim Steiro (Marnie) and daughter Cynthia "Cindy" Bell. He will be missed by his grandchildren Mathew, Conner (Janel), Spencer (Katie) and Juliana and his great grandchildren Hailey, Wyatt, Adalynn and Madison Rose.
Ralph's siblings held a strong place in his heart. He cherished their photos on his walls. Ralph is survived by Carl (late Betty), Ray & (late Sharon) and Helen & (late Roy). He is predeceased by Alfrida & Dan, Selma & George, Dagney & Alfred and Harold & Aline.
As a brother-in-law, Ralph treasured time with Rose's family throughout the years and held a special place in his heart for his brother-in-law Steve Kraft (Julie). He carries many wonderful memories of his many nieces and nephews over the years and across many of the western provinces. He enjoyed his final years in BC and Ontario with visits from his extended family from the Steiro, Kraft, Heeney, Green and D’Agostini families.
Ella's family became an unexpected warm and welcoming new chapter late in his life. He was treated with kindness and love from the joyous Heeney family and especially from Ella Marie and Joy.
Ralph's ashes will be interred on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Langley Lawn Cemetery in BC. A Celebration of Life will follow. Memorial contributions (payable by cheque or online) to Sault Area Hospital Foundation where he was treated with great tenderness and care by all of the nurses.
