Bernadette ‘Bernie’ Taylor was born on August 18, 1940, to René and Fernande Vallée of Espanola. She passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at the Sault Area Hospital on November 19, 2024, at the age of 84.

Survived by her five children: Pat Boston (Lois Pine), Denise Boston Talentino (Terry), Ron Boston (Laila), Michelle Cernak (Bryan), and Lisanne Taylor. She will be missed deeply by her grandchildren: Shauna Stumpf, Troy Pine, Chelsie Pine (Sam Krmpotich), Nick Boston (Kate), Katie Haggerman (Alex), Joey Cernak (Deanna), Megan Cernak Davis (Spencer), Nathan Bogue, and Claire Bogue as well as her great grandchildren Haley Pine, Audrina Boston, Hannah Haggerman, Oliver Haggerman, Ava Boston, Eric Krmpotich-Pine, Cameron Cernak, and Jordyn Krmpotich-Pine.

She was preceded in death by her parents René and Tiny Vallée. Dear sister of Gerard (Myrna) Vallée, Diane Vallée, and Charmaine Bois (late Keith). In addition, she will be fondly remembered by her nieces, favourite nephew, extended family and many friends.

Bernie was well travelled and was loved by all she encountered throughout the United States, Canada, and Iceland. Bernie Buns loved basking in the sun. Some of you may have known her as Bingo Bernie. She made a lot of friends around the bingo hall tables.

She never met a stranger and those who got to know her would all agree that she was a very kind, giving and gentle soul, and if you were really lucky, you got a hug and a lavette (dish cloth).

Bernadette loved her job as a telephone operator in Florida, and as a dispatcher at ATS in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada. She also created many memories at the Top of The Rock in Keflavik, Iceland as the NATO Base’s favourite bartender.

We cherish the memories of her life and find comfort in knowing she is now at peace.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at O'Sullivan Funeral Home (215. St James St, SSM) from 2:30pm - 4:30pm. Inurnment will take place on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at 11:30am at Espanola Cemetery.
