Peacefully on Monday, June 9th 2025, in her 92nd year, Lois went home to be with her Lord Jesus Christ.
Loving wife of late Arthur for 52 years. Loyal mother to Barry (Sirpa), Kevin, Darin and the late Mary Beth. Grandmother to Trisha Schimings and Ashleigh Thacker (Shawn). Great grandmother to Mia, Austin, Hayden, Chloe, Aria Schimings and Emerson and Cole Thacker. Daughter to the late Albert and Dorothy Nelson. Daughter-in-law to the late Gilbert and Angeline Thibodeau.
Lois is predeceased by her siblings Emily Rains (late Orrell), George Nelson (late Pat), Jim Nelson (late Pat), John Nelson (late Alma) and Grace Nelson.
She is also predeceased by her brother’s and sister’s in-law Mary Richards (late Jim), Doris Thompson (late Morley), Carmel, Shirley (late Ron) Norman (late Dawna), David (Diane) and Theresa.
Special friend to Allan and Mary Lester. Also, much cherished by mom were the thoughtful and kind Whalen girls; Gail, Kelly and Connie.
Raised on a small farm near Hilton Beach Ontario, she moved to Sault Ste. Marie after marrying Art. They raised their family there, only to return to her home just outside of Hilton to enjoy her retirement years with dad.
Mom was unassuming, adventurous and enjoyed many great camping trips with her family. She was loved by everyone she had contact with.
Mom was caring, nurturing, honest, long suffering and independent right up to her final days.
She will be missed greatly by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dearest friends.
Also, the Detroit Red Wings have lost their greatest fan.
Special thanks to Dr. K. Dawson and the team at Sault Area Hospital for their compassionate care, commitment and remarkable professionalism to help mom live her final moments with dignity.
