Peacefully at the F. J. Davey Home Thursday August 11, 2016, Ellen Thompson in her 93rd year. Dear wife of the late George (2007) for 60 years. Loving mother of Mary Ellen Szadkowski (Ted), Chris (Gina), Georgia Katajamaki (Michael), Laurie Aceti (John), Heather Thompson and Erin Saunders (Greg). Dear mother-in-law of Sharon Thompson. Cherished grandmother of 21, great grandmother 23 and great great grandmother of Grayson Thompson. Daughter of the late Mary and Joseph Heaney. Dear sister of late Catherine Hamilton (late Fred), Geraldine Lavergne (late Gus), Peter (Rita), late Gerald (Julia), late Patrick (Darlene), and Fred (late Ann) (Marion). Sister-in-law to the late Marion Savala (late Viho), late Chuck Thompson (Valda) and the late Dora Weldon (late Kenny). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Ellen worked as a secretary at Abitibi Paper, Sault Ste Marie Separate School Board and Human Resources Development Canada in Thunder Bay. Throughout her life Ellen was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League, Birthright, the Legion of Mary and served as Eucharistic Minister at Precious Blood and Our Lady of Good Counsel. Special thanks to the staff of 2nd Apple at the F. J. Davey Home for their kind and thoughtful care of Ellen for the past nine years. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard Majella Church (Pentagon Ave.) on Monday August 15, 2016 at 10:00am with Father Francis Ezenezi officiating. Interment in Holy Sepulchre to follow.
