Our beloved Ersilia (mother and nonna) is with the angels in Heaven. How blessed were we to have known such an amazing and loving soul.

Peacefully at ARCH, surrounded by the love of her family on April 3, 2025, at the age of 98.

Beloved wife of the late Concezio Camillo Tucci of 44 years. Loving mother of Angelo Tucci, Elisa Cognigni (Robert) and the late Enrico Tucci. Proud Nonna of Carina (Anthony) and Brandon Cognigni.

Ersilia was born on September 8, 1926, In San Giovanni Teatino of Chieti Italia in Abruzzo region, to her parents Abele and Rosa Cesinaro.

Dear sister of the late Tardino Cesinaro of Chieti, late Settimo Cesinaro of Chieti, late Adina Trovarello (late Antonio), late Anna Cesinaro of Chieti, and the late Giustino Cesarino (Rosa).

Sister-in-law of the late Elvira D’Orazio (late Nicola) of Brazil, late Antonio Tucci (Angelina) of Bucchianico, Italy, Maria Naccarato (late Settimio), Carmen Tucci (late Anna Maria), late Nicola Tucci (Pearl) and Anna Tucci (late Giustino Mariotti) of Milano, Italy. Ersilia will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and godchildren.

At 19 years of age, Ersilia worked in a convent where she worked with the orphaned children and nuns, in Chieti Italia. She was adored by many including Mother Superior. She had described how she wanted to become a nun as she had such strong adoration for the Catholic faith and her love for God. Ersilia was given the sacred heart of Jesus, immaculate heart of Mary plaque by Mother Superior which she cherished throughout her life.

Ersilia became a Canadian immigrant December 20, 1955, to join her husband who came to work in Sault Ste Marie, Canada in 1951 at Algoma Steel. They were united by proxy marriage to start their lives together.

They had a good life amongst wonderful family, friends and made lifelong memories that is passed on from one generation to another.

Ersilia worked at Van Daele Manor nursing home for 17 years, started working in the laundry dept. and then housekeeping on the 4th floor. She took great pride in her work, she loved the staff, residents and developed good friendships.

Ersilia loved to make great Italian food for her family and friends, some of many good meals were homemade lasagna, homemade soups and deboned turkey. She loved to garden, bake, and had beautiful flower beds.

Ersilia is best remembered having an affectionate beautiful smile, loving soul and ocean blue eyes that lit up any room she entered. She touched many lives, always sacrificed and put others first. Her grandchildren, Carina and Brandon fulfilled her life. Her unconditional love, joy and pride of them was more than anything else in her world.

Ersilia always thanked God for her life, family and always saw good in everyone.

When God made Ersilia, he used the utmost care and love for she was made for a purpose with a loving soul, she was caring of others, resilient, had great strength and courage. She will be missed, and we will treasure the memories forever in our hearts. Our love and memories of her will never fade.
