After a courageous battle with cancer, Harold passed away peacefully at the Sault Area Hospital, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at the age of 84. Loving Husband of Shirley for 62 years. Amazing Father of Rick (Nancy), and Sherisse (Sean). Proud and caring Grandfather of his grandsons Aidan and Matthew Turner and Avery, Darby and Colby Arbour. Step Grandfather of Joshua, Matthew and Robert Koop. Brother of Marilyn Verch and the late Val Turner. Brother-in-law of Carron Dunn, Yvonne McEachern, and the late Jim Boyce (Pearl). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews.
To all who knew Harold, will remember him for his passion for sports. He enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball, curling and golf was at the top of his list. His knowledge and experience in sports led him to coach high school football as well as boys and girls baseball teams.
He was so appreciative for all the help and support that he received from his wonderful family during his illness. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find solace in the countless memories he leaves behind - his laughter, his stories, and the love he so freely gave. His spirit will live on in the lives he touched and the family he so deeply cherished.
A celebration of life will be held at The Root (Root River Golf Course, 85 Old Highway 17N, Sault Ste. Marie) on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the charity of your choice.
