Nii mii win ghiizhi kwe “Dancing Day Woman”

January 3, 1963 – May 10, 2025

Colleen is on her journey to the Spirit World. Waiting for her at the Western Door is her daughter Tina Toman, her parents George and Hannah Wabigwan and her brother Matthew Wabigwan. Loving mother of Jeffry, Holly, Hannah, Russell Jr., Mabel and Mark. Partner of Bruce Sandy and fondly remembered by his children Benjamin and Zachary. Nokimis of Serena, Jax, Riverleigh, Rivaris, Sage, Benton, Charles and Liam. Sister and best friend of James, Victor, Gloria, Paul, Iris, Victoria, and Sandra. Colleen will be missed by the father of her children Russell Harvey and Joseph Toman as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Colleen was a proud indigenous Kwe and deeply involved with her culture. She participated in Ceremonies, made one a kind regalia for family and community and danced her way across Turtle Island at many traditional PowWows.

Colleen was excellent at doing crafts, especially bead work, painting and blanket making. She was a skilled blanket maker and stitched them completely by hand. She never used a sewing machine. She had just begun to learn the traditional way of basket making.

Colleen loved to gamble (especially at the casinos), play cards and do puzzles with family and friends. She was always ready to have fun.

We will forever miss Colleen’s sense of humour, the way she brightened up a room and her genuine smile.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Beggs Funeral Home, Sault Area Hospital and Toronto General ICU, especially counsellor Emily for their care of Colleen.

Family and friends are invited to visit at Thessalon First Nation Community Centre, 40 Sugarbush Road, TFN beginning at 11am on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, until time of interment at Thessalon First Nation Cemetery on Friday, May 16, 2025, at 11am.

Arrangements entrusted to Beggs Funeral Home.
