HAMILTON — Hamilton police say they're searching for two suspects after three people were injured in a stabbing at a downtown mosque on Friday afternoon.

Police say they responded at about 2:15 p.m. to reports that several people were stabbed after an altercation that they believe began outside and then continued inside the mosque.

They say one person was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries while another was treated at the scene.

A third person later showed up at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say early details suggest the stabbing was not hate-motivated, and the suspects and victims were known to each other.

They say the suspects fled in an "unknown direction," and conflicting reports suggest they could have left in one or two vehicles.

Suspect descriptions have not released and police are appealing to the public for information that could help their investigation.
