A 68-year-old faces impaired charges stemming from an incident that occurred last week.
In a news release issued today, Sault Ste. Marie OPP say that around 9:50 p.m. on July 14, an officer saw the accused pull out of a business on Second Line and speed down Second Line.
The officer then conducted a traffic stop on Centre Street and while speaking to the driver, determined they were impaired by alcohol.
As a result, David Churchill from Sault Ste Marie was arrested and charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC
Churchill was also issued a license suspension and had their vehicle impounded for seven days.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court in Sault Ste Marie on August 22, 2022.
