Police say an Alberta man was killed in a single-vehicle crash last week northeast of Sault Ste. Marie in which an SUV left the roadway.
The Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has identified the victim as Abdul Hashmi, 51, of Calgary.
On Dec. 4, shortly after 4 p.m., officers responded to a serious single-vehicle collision near the intersection of Highway 129 and Highway 667, about 40 kilometres south of Chapleau.
The investigation revealed a four-door SUV was northbound on Highway 129 when it left the roadway and entered the southbound ditch.
Members of the OPP's northeast region traffic incident management and enforcement team are assisting with the investigation, which is ongoing, police said.
