Elliot Lake resident accused of making threatening phone calls

OPP say a school, daycare and residence received threatening phone calls

An Elliot Lake resident is being accused of making multiple threatening phone calls.

At around 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Ontario Provincial Police were told a school, daycare and residence received threatening phone calls from a known person.

“Police ensured the safety of all recipients and facilities and located the caller a short time later on Hillside Drive South,” said OPP in a news release.

“The caller was extremely confrontational, uncooperative, and assaultive with police during the arrest.”

Kalie Ekomiak, 35, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Criminal Harassment - repeatedly communicate
  • Mischief - obstructs, interrupts, or interferes, with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment or operation of property

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused are considered innocent unless proven guilty.
