Lost hikers rescued at 4 a.m. near Agawa Bay

After realizing they were lost, they called OPP for assistance

A missing person report near Agawa Bay in Lake Superior Provincial Park led police to a pair of lost hikers. Police located the hikers on Frater Road in the park around 4 a.m. on June 22 in good health. SooToday received the following news release from OPP regarding the incident:

WAWA - On June 21, 2020 at approximately 9:20 p.m., members of the Superior East Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Northeast Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) responded to a missing person report near Agawa Bay in Lake Superior Provincial Park. 

Two individuals began hiking from the Frater Road in Lake Superior Provincial Park. After several hours, the pair realized that they were lost. They were able to place a call to police for help after managing to get a weak cell signal. 

Members of the OPP ERT attended the area and located the hikers at approximately 4 a.m. on June 22, 2020. Both parties were returned to their vehicle in good health.
