A man is charged with assaulting a police officer — in the lobby of an OPP detachment.
On April 10 at approximately 10 p.m., a person attended the OPP detachment in Elliot Lake "demanding assistance with a non-police matter."
"When officers attempted to help, the person became irate, unreasonable, and assaulted an officer," says a new release from the OPP.
Daryl Legree, 39, of Elliot Lake was arrested and charged with assaulting a peace officer.
He was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in Blind River on April 11.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Legree is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
