HEYDEN FIRE DAMAGES HOME

The Aweres Township Fire Department and the Sault Ste Marie OPP were at the scene of house fire on Saturday afternoon.
At about 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, the new occupants of a home on MacIntyre Rd in Heyden had started a fire in the woodstove and left the home to visit friends.
A short time later the home was discovered to be in smoke and flames.
The Aweres Township Fire Department advises that the damage is consistent with a problem in and around the wood stove. No one was injured in the fire. The home suffered considerable smoke and fire damage.
SAULT STE MARIE OPP OFFICERS ASSIST IN OTTAWA

Members of the Sault Ste Marie OPP Detachment were sent to Ottawa to assist in the G20 conference this past weekend.
Officers from the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Explosive Disposal Unit and several General Patrol Officers left for the nations capital late Thursday and early Friday.
