THREE DRIVER’S CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

(Aweres Twp., ON) – On Friday, October 30th, 2009 at 11:15 p.m. OPP officers were conducting RIDE checks on MacIntryre Road in Aweres Township.

Arrested and Charged with Impaired Driving and Driving with over 80 mgs. of alcohol is Wesley GIGNAC,
30 years old of 68 Hiltz Road in Aweres Township.

(Sault Ste. Marie, ON) – On Saturday, 31st October, 2009 at 2:40 am and OPP officer was northbound on
Highway 17 in Sault Ste. Marie when they observed a 1993 silver Ford Mustang travelling southbound at
a high rate of speed. The vehicle was intercepted on radar to be travelling 135 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone.

The vehicle was pulled over and the driver exhibited signs of alcohol impairment.

Arrested and charged with Impaired operation of a motor vehicle and Driving with over 80 mgs. of alcohol
is 25 year old Curtis GROSKLEG of 326 Borden Ave. in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

Groskelg was released on a Promise to Appear for court on December 7th, 2009.

(Garden River, ON) – On Saturday, 31st October 2009 at 4:20 a.m. Sault Ste. Marie OPP were dispatched to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 17B in Garden River.

A white 2000 Pontiac Grand-Am had been travelling eastbound on Highway 17B when it skidded across the highway landing in the ditch facing westbound.

The driver was located a short distance from the vehicle and exhibited signs of alcohol impairment.

The driver was the lone occupant and there were no injuries.

Arrested and charged with Impaired Driving and Operation of a motor vehicle with Over 80 mgs. Of alcohol is David Jamie WILSON, 22 years old, of 128 Constellation Place, Sault Ste. Marie Ontario.

Wilson was released on a Promise to Appear for court on December 7th, 2009.
BREAK AND ENTER IN PROGRESS – SUSPECTS ARRESTED

(Lye Twp., ON) - On the 31st October, 2009 at approximately 9:50 a.m. Sault Ste. Marie OPP officers
Were advised of a break and enter in progress in the 1700 block of Blue Water Road in Lye Township.

An area resident at the scene advised that a black pick up truck with no licence plates and covered in mud was fleeing the scene heading north.

OPP attended the scene and observed that entry had been made to the residence by prying an east
facing wood door. Some clothing items were reported missing.

The residence appeared to have been occupied overnight.

Further investigation led to the arrest of the following suspects:

1) David GINGRAS, 35 years old, of 2122 Mission Road on the Batchewana First Nation. Gingras was
held for a bail hearing today on charges of Break Enter and Theft, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Driver Motor Vehicle with no insurance.

2) Wesley BROOKE, 19 years old, of 2122 Mission Road on the Batchewana First Nation. Brooke was
arrested and charged with Break Enter and Theft and was released on a Promise to Appear for court
on the 14th December, 2009.

FIRE DESTROYS KER-LIN’S GENERAL STORE IN SEARCHMONT

(Hodgins Twp., ON) - At approximately 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 1st, 2009 OPP officers along
with the Aweres Fire Department and Searchmont Fire Department were dispatched to a fire at Ker-Lin’s General Store located on Highway 532 in Searchmont, Ontario.

Shortly after Police arrival, the structure was fully engulfed in flames and was completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The Office of the Fire Marshall has been called in for a scene examination.

There were no injuries.

TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN DRUG CHARGES

(Blind River, ON.) On November 1, 2009 officers from the Blind River OPP detachment stopped a vehicle for speeding in Blind River. After a short investigation officers located and seized a small quantity of Oxycodone pills which were not prescribed to him. As a result 32 year old Aldo D’AMICO of Caledon has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. D’AMICO was released and is scheduled to appear in Blind River Provincial Court on December 10, 2009.

MALE FOUND WITH COCAINE AFTER ARRESTED

(Blind River, ON.) On October 31, 2009 at 12:20 am officers from the Blind River OPP detachment attended a local bar after receiving information that a male whom they were looking for was there. Police entered the bar and located Tim CAIBAIOSAI sitting at a table. CAIBAIOSAI was removed from the bar and arrested for an outstanding warrant. When officers searched CAIBAIOSAI they located a small amount of cocaine. As a result 23 year old Tim CAIBAIOSAI of Spragge has been charged with possession of a controlled substance and two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking. CAIBAIOSAI was held for a bail hearing.

CANOE FOUND

(Desbarats, ON.) – On October 30, 2009 the East Algoma Thessalon OPP was contacted by a local citizen reporting a found canoe in the Desbarats, Ontario area.
