Numerous charges laid following domestic incident
BATCHEWANA FIRST NATION – On September 27, 2014 at approximately 11:45 p.m., Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a domestic disturbance at a residence on the Batchewana First Nation.
A male reported being assaulted by his girlfriend.
Upon police arrival a female was observed outside the residence holding a large butcher knife lunging towards a male also standing outside.
The female then fled on foot and was apprehended a short time later by OPP Canine Unit.
The twenty-seven year old female was arrested and charged with one count of Assault, one count of Assault Causing Bodily Harm, and one count of Assault with a Weapon.
The male received non-life threatening injuries.
The accused is being held in custody pending Bail Court at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on September 29, 2014.
