A Gore Bay resident facing a charge of attempted to commit murder is facing numerous other charges as well.
Darcy Hopkin, 43, of Gore Bay was arrested last week after an incident at a residence in Gore Bay.
Hopkin was initially facing charges of attempt to commit murder with a firearm and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and was hit with five more charges Wednesday afternoon.
Among the new charges are:
- Careless use of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, contrary to section 86(1) of the CC,
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the CC,
- Discharging firearm - recklessness, contrary to section 244.2(1)(b) of the CC,
- Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm, contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC (two counts), and
- Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC.
Hopkin remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 4.
In a release, the OPP advises that, due to a publication ban, it will not comment further on details of the investigation.
