A commercial motor vehicle driver from New Brunswick is facing impaired driving charges after a March 29 traffic stop on Highway 17 in Sudbury.
At around 5 p.m. that day, Nipissing West Ontario Provincial Police received a traffic complaint from a motorist about a commercial motor vehicle swerving on Highway 17 in Sudbury.
“Police located the vehicle and arrested the driver for impaired driving, then transported the driver to Greater Sudbury Police Service for further testing,” OPP said in a news release.
As a result, the 45-year-old driver from Woodstock, New Brunswick, is charged with:
- operation while impaired - alcohol
- operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive motor vehicle, not in accordance with permit limitations
The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on April 16 in Sudbury.
The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
