An ATV operator from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township is facing several charges, including impaired driving.

Ontario Provincial Police went to a Pleasant Valley Road home at around 9 p.m. Monday to speak with an individual about an unrelated matter.

That’s when police saw the suspect driving up their driveway on the ATV.

“Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages,” OPP said in a news release.

Stephen Paradis, 61, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Refusal to comply with demand
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order
  • Fail to securely fasten helmet chin strap
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive motor vehicle, no current validated permit
  • Drive motor vehicle, no plates
  • Driving while under suspension

In addition, their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the ATV was impounded for 45 days.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
