OPP CHARGE TRACTOR TRAILER DRIVER
BLIND RIVER, Ont. - On Apr. 8, 2017, shortly after 1:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a westbound tractor trailer on Highway 17 near the Town of Spanish.
Police located the westbound tractor trailer near the village of Algoma Mills. A traffic stop was initiated. After speaking with the driver, further investigation determined the driver's log book wasn't up to date.
As a result, John MANNING, 62 years of age, from North York, Ontario, was issued a provincial offence notice and charged with: Fail to Maintain Daily Log, contrary to section 190(3) of the Highway Traffic Act.
MALE CHARGED - BREACHED HIS CONDITIONS
BLIND RIVER, Ont. - On Apr. 9, 2017, shortly after 9:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Huron Avenue in the Town of Blind River.
Police attended the residence and learned that a male and female had been arguing. The male was on conditions not to communicate with the female. As the male was being arrested, he began to resist arrest and damaged an OPP cruiser.
As a result, a 21 year old male from Blind River, Ontario, was charged with:
- Mischief Under $5000, contrary to section 430(4) of the Criminal Code (CC);
- Resist Peace Officer, contrary to section 129(a) of the CC; and
- Fail to Comply with Recognizance, contrary to section 145(3) of the CC
The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on April 9, 2017.
INTOXICATED MALE CHARGED
BLIND RIVER, Ont - On Apr. 9, 2017, shortly after 5:00 p.m., members of the East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of an intoxicated male on Causley Street in the Town of Blind River.
Police located the male sitting on the sidewalk. As the officers were speaking with the male, they could detect a strong odour of alcohol emanating from his breath.
As a result, Gregory HAWKINS, 43 years of age, from Blind River, Ontario, was arrested charged with: Being Intoxicated in Public Place, contrary to section 31(4) of the Liquor Licence Act.
The male was lodged until sober.
