A 57-year-old Windsor man faces impaired driving charge after police found a pickup truck in a ditch near Bruce Mines.
On March 29, members of the OPP’s Sault Ste. Marie Highway Safety Division were patrolling Highway 17 near Garden Bay Road at around 4:30 p.m. when they spotted a blue pickup in the westbound ditch.
The man was charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
Police say the driver exited the vehicle and approached them when they determined he had consumed alcohol and arrested him.
Mark Anderson was taken to the East Algoma OPP detachment in Thessalon for further testing, the OPP said in a news release.
He received a 90-day license suspension, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Anderson is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on May 1.
None of the accusations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
The OPP is reminding the public that no amount of alcohol or drugs is safe while driving and encourages people to call 911 if they suspect an impaired driver.
